Application for Provider Support Award

Provider Award

Provider Support Awards are administered by  SPARK Montana. There will be an application review, prioritizing program impact. Providers may submit one application per PV number.

This Support Award can be used for the purposes of:  

  • Start Up Funds 
    • Supporting child care programs that are launching a new licensed program or have become registered or licensed within six (6) months of the grant application date
    • Offsetting early-stage costs needed to meet licensing requirements and establish a high-quality program
  • Infant Toddler Quality Support 
    • Enhancing or expanding infant and toddler care through materials, equipment, staffing supports, or program improvements
    • Supporting quality practices that strengthen infant and toddler environments beyond increasing the number of available slots
  • Program Environment Support 
    • Enhancing learning environments to promote engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behavior while supporting child development and safety
    • Purchasing materials (includes furnishings) or equipment that reduce environmental stressors and support children with diverse behavioral, sensory, or developmental needs
  • Technology 
    • Supporting the purchase or update of technology used for program operations, communication, or documentation
    • Improving access to tools that support scheduling, billing, family communication or administrative efficiency
  • Health and Safety 
    • Strengthening program safety through equipment, supplies, or improvements that support child and staff well-being
    • Addressing health,sanitation, or emergency preparedness needs required for compliance or best practice 

Funds cannot be used for the following: 

  • Liability or home/renter’s insurance
  • Items that do not directly benefit the children or staff of the program

Review And Approval Process

Awards are determined by an award committee using a standardized rubric and may be less than the application amount. Once your application is submitted, you will receive a follow up email asking you to fill out a table with items being requested. Once approved, purchase items, then receipts will be sent to SPARK Montana for verification of reimbursement. Once approved, providers will submit one invoice to SPARK Montana by July 31, 2026 to receive reimbursement.

Please note: 

  • Items requested from Lakeshore will be purchased by SPARK Montana and shipped directly to the program, items requested from other sources must be purchased by the provider and will be reimbursed.
  • It is a reasonable expectation that purchases including shipping and handling are covered as part of the  awarded funds. 
  • Provider awards are available in a single support award of a minimum $500, maximum $5,000 for any  program type. 
  • financial awards may have tax consequences. Please consult your tax professional for guidance.
